Brexit negotiations are creating uncertainty and could cause a massive regression in the work others and I have done in trying to build a united community together. The withdrawal of key EU funding would have direct and detrimental impact on the progression of Northern Ireland – and risk taking us backwards. It’s young people who will feel this most and have most to lose.
I have been involved in various cross-community programmes and events which aim to bring young people from either side of the sectarian divide together and break down any prejudices in the hope of creating a better, safer and more modern society in which everyone from every walk of life would feel comfortable in.
I want the voice of young people to be heard in the Brexit talks – especially young people in Northern Ireland. Too often Northern Ireland is an after-thought, and in particular the concerns of young people and consideration of our future is never at the forefront of discussions.
